At the time of writing this two hotels on the strip are undergoing extensive work. The Mirage a landmark hotel, famous for its Polynesian theme and nightly volcano show, permanently closed on July 17, 2024. The Mirage is not being demolished entirely, but it is undergoing extensive renovations and rebranding as a Hard Rock Hotel.
The Tropicana: Located at the busy intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, the Tropicana is also being demolished. The site is set to become the new home of the Oakland A’s Major League Baseball team. Plans are in place to build a new stadium in its place. This development marks the end of an era for the Tropicana, which has been a staple of the Strip since the 1950s
